Principal's Bulletin # 5

Post date: Oct 1, 2014 1:21:44 PM

Dear Belmont Family,

This year we are very pleased to continue working in a collaborative spirit to further academic success for all of our students. With this ultimate goal in mind, the faculty has broadened the team work started last year with the expressed desire to improve instruction. We have been fortunate to have been given support from our Network through initiatives designed to support Mathematics, Living Environment and US History. This support will allow us to work on the ground floor in establishing and creating curricula that will be used to prepare students for the world beyond high school. Attaining this support included submitting applications in a highly competitive process and I am pleased that we have been chosen to serve as educational leaders as we create, critique, consider and promote change in practices that will benefit our students.

We will continue to work to improve our Socratic Seminars, link English Language Arts to Social Studies, foster the use of the scientific method across subjects, and provide all students with the skills needed to become positive contributors to our democracy. We will also continue to promote the arts by creating more murals, partnering with artistic agencies and, of course, allowing a safe space for artistic expression in class and o stage.

I trust that this will be a great year given that we have worked hard to put steps in place to reach the highest of expectations and I look forward to your support in all of our collaborative efforts.

Fondly,

Principal Gumbs
