Dear Belmont Family,

We are off to a fantastic start this year.  The first days of school are always exciting because no other time of the years offers as much potential for success. This is the time when we, hopefully, have been able to return from a relaxing Summer when we could travel, visit with friends and pursue interests that we enjoy. Now that we have returned to school, I trust that this energy and enthusiasm will continue.

I look forward to a great year as we continue to partner with different agencies, use our resources well and take full advantage of all that Belmont has to offer. This, of course, includes following policies set regarding zero tolerance for cellphone use and adherence to the dress code policy.

As always, please, fee free to reach out to me with concerns and suggestions so that we continue to improve together.

Dear Belmont Family,

I have nothing but good news to share this week.  Our attendance continues to improve as evidenced by our 91% attendance rate!
In addition, our students were able to have their plays presented by professional actors in a culminating event based on their original writing!
I am also proud to report that, though Theater for a New Audience presents only the top plays (usually three or four) they were so impressed by our students that they performed EIGHTEEN of ours because they were ALL excellent.  Our campus events are all going well and the TREC Varsity Basketball Team is ranked number one and The Swim Team continues to beat their best records.  Also, as the semester ends, we are gearing up for our Spring Events including our New England Tour, College Tours and Travel Club Trips(s).

Lastly, and most importantly, the college admissions letters are beginning to pour in!

Hope this GREAT news finds you well.

Thank you all for your continued support of our mission and vision to best serve students.

Always,

Principal Gumbs

Dear Belmont Family,

The next time you find yourself in our local Starbucks, look for original photographs by Belmont Photography Club students.  The club advisors reached out to the local area shops to have the student work displayed and they were met with a great deal of enthusiasm because of the quality and originality of the pieces.  This is a great way to showcase student success and to let the extended community see how talented our students are.   Just see for yourself, since a picture is worth a thousand words. The photos are on display at the Starbucks on 440 E. Fordham Road, around the corner from Belmont!

Fondly,

Dear Belmont Family,

Congratulations are in order as students continue to be accepted to the colleges of their choice.  It has been great to see the excitement that they feel as they begin to realize that  the new challenges we have told them about are real.  It is also a pleasure to know what part we have had in preparing them for this new chapter of their lives.  As spring is a time of renewal, please join us in welcoming their endless potential for growth as our seniors prepare to commence with the next steps in their lives.

Dear Belmont Family,

March really is maddening!  This month we "Spring Forward" as we adjust our time pieces, see the marking period come to an end on Friday the 13th and attend the Latino College Fair on the 14th.  In addition,  we have begun to prepare for our own "March Madness" basketball tournament, as well as our "Belmont's Got Talent" show and Spring sports tryouts! In order to further improve communication, we have launched our "This Week in Belmont News Letter" available to staff members via electronic mail and our student newspaper, "Belmont Times" is gearing up for publication for all to see. On the college preparedness front, we will be running a series of workshops for students on March 12, 19, and 26th to share our college experiences, help them plan for college and advise them on the application process. It really is an exciting month and we hope that the students will take advantage of all that we offer.

Dear Belmont Family,

It is hard to imagine that an entire week has passed since we have been back.  That having been said, be advised that we have only two weeks left before the January Regents begin on January 26, 2015. Students have been made aware of the schedule because it has been posted on our bulletin boards throughout the corridors.  Please, be certain to familiarize yourself with the schedule in order to be best prepared. In addition, selected students have been offered tutoring opportunities and others have been given Regents Review Classes to best prepare them for success.  I trust that our students will take full advantage of every opportunity to excel and that every member of our community will work to help them.  In addition, teachers have established goals for our learners and are working hard to help them do well on these high stakes exams.

Should you have any questions, please, be certain to reach out to your Guidance Counselor or Teachers for additional support and information.

 Fondly,
